Sizing issues and anthropometric studies in mass-production of clothing in Czechoslovakia (1948-1953)
Foglová, Alena ; Storchová, Lucie (advisor) ; Nečasová, Denisa (referee)
The construction of the Czechoslovakian socialist state was accompanied by numerous social projects, through which the communist dictatorship strived to influence even the most ordinary aspects of everyday lives of its citizens. The mass production of the off-the-peg clothes, which was subject to the state scientific research, was characteristic of the clothing industry after the year 1948. As a result, extensive somatometric projects were run on the Czechoslovakian territory (ADAGO, GOLIÁŠ, DEKOLT I-III). Their purpose was to map the population sizes, create a unified clothes size scale and develop a new methodology for cut structure. Simultaneously with this research, discussions about the ideal fashion canon, which would reflect the socialist ideology, also took place. The thesis analyses the clothing expert discourse of the period in a broader context and takes into account its informative value with regard to the period's conceptions of clothing, corporality, and fashion. Key words socialist dictatorship, socialist ideology, clothing industry, off-the-peg clothes, somatometry, clothing research, anthropometry, expert discourse

The growth, development and selected demographic data of rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) living in captivity with the extension of a topic into biology didactics and laboratory work in biology. Rigorous thesis deals with the generational differences in growth, weight, height and sitting height of rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) bred in captivity n the primate centre in Konárovice in the Czech republic and in the primate centre in Soci, Russia. It also focuses on the seasonality of birth months and sex ratio of individuals born in different generations. Body Composition and Motor Performance of Males Aged 18 to 25 Years
ZAHRADNÍČKOVÁ, Zita
The aim of my thesis was to collect, compare and evaluate body size, body composition, vital lung capacity, dynamometry and a level of motor performance of men aged from 18 to 25 years of two target groups - men who are professional swimmers or floorball players, and males of a common population. Using standard somatometric methods, a group of 39 swimmers, a group of 39 floorball players, and a group of 39 non-sportsmen of a common population were examined. The examined body parametres were body length, body weight, bustline, arm line, contracted-arm line, forearm line, thigh line, calf line; width of epiphysis of humerus and femur, wrist, ankle, biacromial and bicristal breadth, breadth of the transverse and sagittal section of chest; skin folds. The ascertained data were compared with the results of previous researches. The thesis also includes the results of motor tests, dynamometry and vital lung capacity.
